blogwordoftheday: secret.

It's not really a secret, but a woman is defined by her hair! :)
Or so I feel since I got meself a haircut!
I have been getting everything from random smiles to stares by rockstars in grey beamers, from offers for coffee, lunch, dinner to looks that I don't even know how to deal with! ;)
If you're a man reading my blog- get your woman a surprise appointment. :)
If you're a woman reading my blog- don't wait for the man. They are no good anyway! Just go for a cut, color, anything hair related... now! :D

Update- sometime around midnight.
Sabizak [sabahat on sidebar]-
well i think you are sooo a crop top gal. You look awesome in that style. The WHOLE world has a stylized beauty salon haircut, you looked awesome because you did'nt look the clone of most other girls these days. That earlier style was just so YOU. Forget Nabila. You are way cool on your own without her or the likes of her messing with your natural beauty.
(not to say you arent looking cute in this pic, the smile is obviously still million watt)
My reply-
I agree. I agree. I agree. Croptop is: me. I feel most comfortable. A shower takes round 'bout 5 minutes. The 'style' makes me feel like... me! And most happy from within. The 'world' thinks otherwise.
However, since I grew my hair to a length that I had never reached before, I started tying my hair in a lazy pony! The look didn't make me come across as anything but... lazy and untidy! Let's say... this is one of those things that I have 'done'! Afterall, how many people who hated my croptop have had a croptop themself?! :D Hmph. This is my getting back to the world. Sort of like showing them one of my pretty fingers! Telling them to shut the fook up!
Moral of the story / Message to the world: I can sport a salon cut and I can sport a croptop. Can you? ;)

Of last few weeks and today...
I know I haven't blogged in a really long while. I have just been really busy at work. Got sick on the day EQ was born! High fever that wouldn't drop. Before you ask- it wasn't dang-you! The fever went up to a good 104 and that's when drips, needles, tons of medicine, doctors, Agha Khan - all made their appearance. The most scary moments were the two times I heard my Grandfather call my name! Each time I turned around thinking that it's "the end"! Oh and just in case you don't know my Grandfather passed away some 12 years ago! I was really close to him and always hoped that God will send him to pick me up! :D So, well... I couldn't come to work for a good three weeks [including the Eed Holidays] and therefore was behind schedule and have only recently caught up to my actual timelines and deadlines. As soon as I was back- work started on Josh's 'Mausam' release via Radio1's sister concern- BMN Records. Yours truly made the media/promotional plan and hence played host to the band for a good 5 days. The day used to start at 8am and ended around midnight! Got everything from press, radio and tv channels covered in just 4 days! :D The schedule was so tight that I made the band almost skip one of their lunch! Hahaha! It was so funny cause Rup was dying to hit Nando's and I kept telling them that due to lack of time we'd have to skip that. So I took them to Subway instead and then we walked to the MTV Office! The band insisted that we shouldn't reach the channels on time and they'd give me a 101 on how things are always starting late! I insisted on making a difference and needless to say they weren't excited about being my partners-in-change! :p Took them for an interview to my old office- CityFM89 - where the road was closed so we had to walk! Then our driver ran away so we played some football in the parknig spot! It was hectic and fun and mad crazy. Would never do it again if I have the option! :p All my local celebrity friends made fun of me and tsk-tsked at how I am giving so much importance and time that I haven't ever offered them! Anyhoo.
I don't know what else to write as of now cause I am going for a much needed haircut and then heading to MTV Pakistan's launch. It's funny cause I am so not a haircut type of a person and only trust the "croptop" as far as hair styles are concerned! Let's see what folks at Nabila's have in store for me!
I am NOT showing off the Nabila part. I swear.
Why am I even going there? I think I am in the process of changing my mind.

Continue to make a difference...
Last year around this time...8:50 something on the clock.
I am off from work but still up and chatting away on msn.
Anathema asks me if I am okay and that things "shook" at Shahra-e-Faisal. She heard it on CityFM89, the radio station that I was working at then. Wes was hosting "The Breakfast Show" when he felt the ground beneath him... move. He thought aloud and said something on the lines of an earthquake happening and how he needs to leave the building.
The next 2 hours I became a reporter... As I shared news/updates/etc with the station since the TV wasn't working there.
When I went in to work on Monday, everything felt different. The entire office sat in a circle on the floor in front of our boss' room. We were all different people. We had all gotten the daddy of all reality checks. There were already reports of possible jolts in Karachi. Little did we, as a team, knew that our line "make 89 differences" would be used at a time when we'd all need to come together to make those differences!
Then Raheela passed away. A year later her friend emailed me. Follow the link and read the comments if you wish to read the actual email. My friend's mom passed away too. And so did thousands of people. Thousands of people that felt like family. Thousands that gave me sleepless nights. Thousands that had thousands of plans that all came under the rubble along with them.
I have goosebumps thinking of babies that were born on the day when their familes, brothers, mothers, sisters, fathers, friends, life... passed away. I am thinking of how they'd celebrate their 18th birthday knowing that 18 years ago their loved ones passed away.
It's still difficult. It still hurts.
May those who died rest in peace. And those who survived live in peace.
Amen.

the week(s) that was...
I blogged a long one about the week that was and then the computer decided to brainwash itself!Since the last blogpost-: I have moved in with the bossettes [yes. so i have stolen the term off of khizzy's blog. kill me! :p] I have a computer that I can call my own for now. I also wish and pray everyday that one day it'll miraculously change into a laptop! Yes, miracles do happen! :)
The first RJ meeting [ever] happened on the 23rd of Sept! We were playing host to 4 'flyers' from Lahore and Isloo station. Overall: a crazy day! Ended a little after midnight at Cafe Flo. Or so we thought. The next day being the last Sunday before Ramzan, I had pre-planned to sleep my day away. Ha! At 11 in the freakin morning, I was given a wake-up call. Nice folks that we are: decided to entertain the 'flyers' before they flew out in the evening. On reaching the hotel I almost had a heart attack when both the lady flyers wanted to hit the Sunday Bazaar! I understand the love for Sunday Bazaar. I also understand the intensity of the love if you're not from Karachi. But what I don't understand is why you'd want to melt down in another city and die! I also don't understand why intelligent ladies at times under-estimate how hot it may be outside on a freakin' Sunday morning when there are lucky human beings sleeping on their comfy beds. However, bossette2 and I understand the power of convincing the super intelligent lady flyers to go Esspresso-ing instead! Yay.
In between-: nandoed with the original gazebo gang, smiled at the love note scribbled in my notebook by tasha, wrote Urdu after a decade it seems, helped release co-VEN's video for "sailing fast" under BMN's label - coming soon to a channel near you, met some funky bloggers at a meet-up that can be read about on Faisal's blog.
It's almost time to get ready for work and so I should be off.
Have a nice day yo' all. :)
